Scale and Polish

A Scale and polish is a treatment carried out to clean teeth more thoroughly than brushing alone can achieve, to remove plaque and tartar build up as well as staining due to diet and smoking. A fluoride polish is applied at the end of this treatment to strengthen the teeth and help prevent further buildup of plaque and tarter.

Some patients are more susceptible to plaque, tarter and staining than others and it is recommended that a scale and polish is carried out at regular intervals, as advised by the dentist.
